Mohammed Al Attar, is the most recent addition to Land Rover's list of contemporary pioneers and visionaries from the MENA region who have gone above and beyond.
He is Kuwait’s most prolific parkour athlete and one of only five Red Bull sponsored athletes in the world. Parkour is a highly skilled gymnastic discipline which involves rapid movement, typically through an urban environment by running, jumping, and climbing.
Mohammad has taken the world of urban gymnastics by storm since his first place win at the Red Bull Urban Jump 2010 at the age of 17. He has since gone on to become the top Parkour athlete in Kuwait and has ranked within the top 5 internationally since 2013, all while learning to master a variety of complementary martial arts including Taekwondo and Karate Shotokan.
Mohammad credits the challenging urban environment at home for helping hone his gymnastic skills, saying, “Having many waterfront and beaches helped develop my skills. As we don't have any access to gymnastic clubs, the natural environment, the beautiful landscape and even the sand on the beach replaces the foam pit in gyms.”
Speaking about the collaboration with Land Rover, Mohammad says: “What I like most about this project is that it celebrates Arab culture and identifies the unique talent that lies within each of us as Arabs. It doesn’t draw comparisons nor set moulds for how we should be. Like Land Rover, I too want Arabs to be proud of their heritage, their uniqueness and their abilities.”
